The online community is buzzing with conversation after Ben Affleck was seen with a new look that fans haven’t seen in quite some time.
Since his split from Jennifer Lopez, the 52-year-old star appeared in public with a “divorce glow up,” fueling speculation that “he’s on the prowl.” While some fans say he’s “a mess of a guy” and looks “beyond awful,” others suggest he’s “much happier” now that he’s unloaded the “big weight” of his ex.

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez’s relationship spanned two decades, two engagements, and two splits, the second coming on the second anniversary of their second wedding in Georgia.
After meeting, falling in love and getting engaged in the early 2000s, the stars of Gigli parted ways, blaming in part the pressure of the public eye. But two decades later, Affleck, 52, and Lopez, 55, reunited and married, twice in 2022.
And then in August 2024, JLo filed for divorce and Bennifer split again.
Amid the drama surrounding their separation, Lopez traveled to Europe and worked on her revenge body, while the Oscar winning Affleck made some changes of his own.
New look
In August, the star departed from his usual laid-back look for a for a dramatic new makeover. This transformation of Affleck featured buzzed hair with a cleanly shaven face, a tough look that he completed with aviator sunglasses, a boxy leather jacket, and a Red Hot Chili Peppers tee.
More recently, the Argo star emerged from his cocoon with a look that fans haven’t seen in a couple of years.
On October 3, Affleck was seen with noticeably darker facial hair as he stepped out to pick up his 15-year-old daughter, Seraphina, whom he shares with ex Jennifer Garner.
Affleck was seen wearing a blue button-up shirt and black pants that he paired with dress shoes.
But it was his facial hair that captured the attention of the online community.
His freshly dyed black beard and moustache were a huge contrast to the rougher, salt-and-pepper look that he frequently sported in his time with the Maid in Manhattan star and immediately after.
Fans offered their opinions on his appearance, the majority suggesting the “dye job” on his beard looks “awful.”
“In his midlife crisis number 1789. His hand shook and he spilled the jar of henna on his beard,” writes one fan, while a second jokes, “Why’d he use a Sharpie ‘though]?”
A third pens of his beard, “It looks spray-painted on.”
“Omg…have you ever seen such a mess of a guy now. He is the worst dressed, the worst body and his haircut is beyond awful. His self-destruction is unbelievable,” shares another.
Referring to the rumors of Affleck dating Kick Kennedy, Robert F. Kennedy Jr’s daughter, one cyber fan writes, “I don’t think it has to do with Jennifer Lopez Divorce! Trying to look younger it has to do with dating a younger woman like Kick Kennedy!”
Both parties shot down claims that they were an item.
‘On the prowl’
Meanwhile, other fans praised the super star, some saying “He’s on the prowl” with a “divorce glow-up.”
“I haven’t seen this man happy until this photo,” shares one while a second netizen pens of his split, “[He’s] happy as hell to leave a potential sinking ship.”
“He looks so much happier,” writes a third and another comments, “He has that look like a big weight off his shoulders.”
Defending his decision to look how he wants, one user offers, “Poor guy, he always looks so unhappy. The media just needs to leave him alone, [because] he’s obviously going through a lot of issues. If he wants to dye his beard, more power to him.”
