Bonnie Raitt postpones multiple appearances due to unspecified ‘medical situation that requires surgery’

Bonnie Raitt is a class act all the way and super talented.

But sadly, the red-haired blueswoman was forced to reschedule several concerts citing an unspecified “medical situation” that requires surgery.

The 73-year-old Grammy winner made her fans worried when she made the announcement on April 28 – but now she has an new update.

Throughout a career spanning more than four and a half decades, the lovely Bonnie Raitt has amassed an impressive collection of accolades.

She has claimed 10 Grammy Awards, received induction into the prestigious Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and secured her place on Rolling Stone’s esteemed lists of the greatest 100 singers and guitarists of all time.

The blues singer and guitarist was born on November 8, 1949, in Burbank, California and is still going strong. But recently, she faced a setback.

In April, Bonnie Raitt announced she was postponing some May shows in order to deal with a ”medical situation that requires surgery”.

“Bonnie has a medical situation that requires surgery to address. The doctors say that in order for her to heal properly, they recommend she not perform for a couple of weeks,” the statement said. “Unfortunately, this overlaps our five tour dates in May, and we are very sorry to have to cancel our performance at [Brandi Carlile’s Mothership Weekend] on May 14th and postpone our shows in Athens, Louisville, Indianapolis and Pittsburgh.”

“It’s always upsetting to have to disappoint her fans, band, crew and our promoters, but sometimes unforeseen things just happen,” the statement continued. “Thankfully, Bonnie’s in great hands. She was so looking forward to these shows, but we’re excited to be able to resume our 2023 tour, now kicking off in Dublin, Ireland, June 1st.”

“Thank you for your well wishes and understanding, and we very much appreciate your respecting her request for privacy at this healing time.”

Thankfully, the Grammy winner now shares a positive update. I May, the singer said that her healing is on track.

”I want to thank you all for your beautiful, caring wishes for my speedy recovery,” Raitt shared on Instagram on May 8. ”Everything went really well. My healing is on track and I’m feeling better every day.”

Raitt is currenly touring across the U.K. before returning to the US where she we play in Chautauqua, NY on June 24.

Both fans and celebrities took to the comments to wish Raitt well.

“Get well soon Bonnie! We all absolutely ADORE you. Everyone is glad that you’re taking care of yourself and not pushing it,” Brandi Carlile wrote.

“Who cares about the missed concerts. Health comes first. Hope for quick recovery! We love you Bonnie!” a fan commented.
