Following the release of her incredibly emotional documentary, I Am: Celine Dion, there are rumors the iconic singer is “secretly practicing” for a Las Vegas comeback.
Celine Dion, who lives with stiff person syndrome, is said to be preparing for 70-minute shows set to occur around the time of the Las Vegas Formula One Grand Prix.
The last time Dion performed live in front of a crowd was in New Jersey on March 8, 2020 as part of her Courage world tour.
After announcing her diagnosis, Dion promised her fans she would return to the stage. And it looks like it might be happening sooner rather than later!
According to the US Sun, Dion has spent the last eight months rehearsing with musicians and practicing with vocal therapists.
“She has worked incredibly hard to get back to a place where she can sing well and for some period of time,” the source said. “She believes that she is ready to perform for over an hour.”
“Her desire to return and entertain has been a huge driving force in her health battles,” they claimed. “She never gave up and has been working in secret for months on her vocal strength and control.”
Dion’s return to the stage reportedly began as “small sessions” held at her home before she gradually began to be able to sing several songs in a row.
Not only does she have the support of those closest to her, but she has the support of executives at the concert promoter AEG.
“They are beyond supportive and feel very happy to collaborate to make sure everything is right for any return.”
While Dion’s previous tour dates ended in disappointment, both for Dion and fans, sources speculate that this time around “there is no doubt that the fans will support her no matter what happens.”
Dion will reportedly play a few dates to start to test out her physical health and mental health. If everything doesn’t go as planned, dates will be moved, possibly to early 2025.
“But at this moment a November return is the focus and then anything beyond that will be discussed after that run.”
Everyone involved has to be ready for anything to happen at a moment’s notice.
“This syndrome is not something which obeys people’s schedules and plans and could flare up at any point,” another source said. “So that this is a reality everyone has to live with.”
I really hope this is true. It would be great to see Celine Dion back on stage doing what she loves the most!
