If you were a teen in the ’70s, chances are you pictured yourself marrying Donny Osmond.
The teen idol had a certain way of attracting fans with his good looks and swoon-worthy songs, but in the end there was only one who he’d remain loyal to throughout the years.
Donny and Debbie were first introduced when they were teenagers and Debbie was dating Donny’s brother Jay.
“She was the hot babe cheerleader in town and she dated my brother Jay before she dated me,” he captioned a Facebook post from 2016. “It took me 3 whole years to win her heart and convince her to marry me.”
In an interview with Utah Valley Magazine, he shared his romantic gesture for Debbie’s 17th birthday: a scavenger hunt that ended with their first kiss.
“Debbie was playing hard to get, and I wanted to plan something really, really special for our first kiss,” he recalled.
Two years later the couple got married and have been inseparable ever since.
To mark their 46th wedding anniversary, Donny shared a never-before-seen photo from the couple’s wedding.
In the photo, Debbie wears a white veil and dress while cutting a four-tier wedding cake as Donny, who is dressed in a blue tuxedo, looks on.
The former teen heartthrob reminisced in the caption of the photo about the couple’s unconventional honeymoon, calling it “a honeymoon we’ll never forget.” Following their wedding, Donny and Debbie spent the next few days with his family in Las Vegas performing shows.
And while Donny didn’t share any specifics about this year’s celebrations, the 66-year-old alluded to a secret getaway to mark the couple’s 46th wedding anniversary.
Congratulations on 46 years! Four decades is an extremely long time to be married to someone, especially in Hollywood. May you continue to celebrate more happy and healthy years together.
