Female singer only reason some are going to watch Super Bowl

The Super Bowl is a highly anticipated event for many Americans. The sporting event is not just for the sport enthusiasts but also serves as a means for people to get together and socialize.

Many people might watch the event for even just the half time show, an event which garners millions of views and is considered an honor to headline.

This year, the headliner is Kendrick Lamar. And joining him is a female artist that a lot of people clearly adore. Keep reading to learn more.

The guest star who is going to perform at the coveted Super Bowl halftime show is already getting a lot of attention. Even people who do not watch the sport are talking about tuning into the show to see the highly anticipated musical performance.

The NFL announced the artist SZA will join the Grammy-winning artist Kendrick Lamar. They announced the news with a playful video of SZA splashing Kendrick with a blue drink, which was reminiscent of the winning team might give to their coach after they win a game.

SZA wrote in the caption, “Taking the stage with @Kendricklamar! #AppleMusicHalftime #SBLIX.” The two of them will perform at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans on February 9.

Fans of SZA are very excited to see her on the big stage. One wrote, “Only watching the super bowl for sza [sic].” Another person wrote, “I’m super excited.” Another fan wrote, “SZA BOWL! I don’t watch football but I will now! 😜.” While another added, “I just heard sza is performing at the super bowl…. I WILL BE WATCHING [sic].” 

Another fan wrote a cheeky comment, “Kendrick knew he didn’t have enough hits to do a Super Bowl performance that’s why he brought along SZA. That was the smartest choice he could’ve made.”

SZA has been doing really well professionally lately. She released her album, “SOS Deluxe: Lana” which has been doing really well for on the charts. Her film, “One of Them Days,” featuring actress Keke Palmer has also been well received. And the singer is also a four time Grammy winner.

SZA, whose name is Solána Imani Rowe. She was nominated twice for Best R&B Performance and Best R&B Song in 2025; this brought her nomination to a total of 26. Due to her recent success, the singer took to Instagram to celebrate her achievements, she wrote in a post, “LIFE TOO SHORT TO PLAY SMALL AND NOT PRIORITIZE SELF LOVE AND SELF ACCEPTANCE! GOOD BAD AND OOGLY !!! AHHHH God is so good !! Yall are so good !! Sending love to everybuddy ❤️THANK YOU ❤️🫡🫶🏾🥲 [sic].”

Kendrick was announced as the headliner for the halftime show in September 2024. He encourages his fans to meet him in New Orleans on 9th February 2025, and asks them to dress their best, even if they will be watching from home.

The legendary rapper has 17 Grammy wins to his name so far. Rap music is still the most impactful genre to date. And I’ll be there to remind the world why. They got the right one,” he said in a statement.

In 2017, he was the first musician who was does not perform in a classical or jazz category to win a Pulitzer Prize for his album, ‘DAMN.’

NFL head of music Seth Dudowsky, much like everyone else, does not have any doubts that Kendrick will give a stellar performance. He said, “Few artists have impacted music and culture as profoundly as Kendrick Lamar.”

“We’re excited to collaborate with Kendrick, Roc Nation, and Apple Music to deliver another unforgettable Halftime Show,” he further added.

Before Kendrick’s highly anticipated performance, the Super Bowl pregame will take place. The event will feature Jon Batiste performing the National Anthem, Trombone Shorty and Lauren Daigle taking on “America the Beautiful,” and Ledisi singing “Lift Every Voice and Sing.”

After the halftime show, Kendrick Lamar and SZA will embark on their tour across the US and Canada. The tour is for Kendrick’s sixth studio album, ‘GNX.’

Two of the songs on the album have a SZA collaboration which make her inclusion in the tour with him event better. The tour begins on April 19 in Minneapolis and ends on June 18 in Washington.
