‘General Hospital’ star announces exit from soap opera after decade on the show

General Hospital fans have experienced a roller coaster of emotions lately courtesy of recent casting news.

Just one day after it was revealed Jonathan Jackson would be making his return to GH, Michael Easton shared with fans that he would be leaving the show after more than a decade with the soap opera.

It has also been announced that Bryan Craig will be returning to the show.

“I’ve always been partial to the Irish goodbye. That’s where you leave the party without actually telling anyone you’re gone,” Easton said, 57, in an Instagram video. “But I thought you all deserved better, so I just wanted to let you know that I just filmed my final scenes here at General Hospital.”

Easton first appeared on General Hospital as part of a crossover episode with One Life to Live in 2012. He portrayed the character John McBain. Over the next few years he made several appearances on GH as Silas Clay before officially becoming a full-time member of the cast in 2016.

His new role had him portraying a different character, Dr. Hamilton Finn, which earned him a Daytime Emmy nomination in 2018.

“I’ve loved every minute that I’ve been here. I want to thank the entire cast and crew for allowing me to share their stage this past 10 years,” Easton continued in his Instagram video.

“Most importantly, I want to thank all of you for the kindness and love you’ve shown me and my family. I won’t ever forget you. And as I walk out here for the last time, and with apologies to the great Lou Gehrig, I feel like the luckiest man on the face of the Earth.”

Easton’s last episode will air June 27, according to SoapOperaDigest.

I will miss Michael Easton’s character! He’s been on General Hospital so long. Please share if you will miss him too.
