Howard Stern praises Jon Stewart, believes he ‘owes it to his country’ to run for president

Howard Stern is confident Jon Stewart would “win in a slam dunk” in he were to run for president in 2024.

In fact, he’s so certain that he urged the comedian and political commentator to throw his hat in the ring.

“The guy is so f***ing smart and bright and also witty and really measured when he takes on a debate,” Stern said. “He knows how to talk. You know he would work his ass off to be a good president. I’m telling you, he could also win, because people like Jon Stewart.”

Stern urged the former Daily Show host to run for president during Monday’s episode of his SiriusXM show.

He explained that while he was on vacation he binged a number of Stewart’s shows and came to the conclusion Stewart owed it to his country to run for president.

The radio host even compared Stewart to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who was a comedian prior to becoming president of Ukraine.

“Watch when he talks to politicians and he confronts them,” Stern said. “Watch the guy. He just makes a lot of good points.”

Stewart is well-known for his advocacy work on Capitol Hill, especially on behalf of 9/11 victims. In 2019, he pushed lawmakers to reauthorize the 9/11 Victims Compensation Fund.

And more recently he went viral after backing a theory about how COVID-19 spread. The lab leak theory, which Stewart suggested was later proved by the US Energy Department to be the “most likely explanation” of the pandemic.

While Stern fully supports Stewart, the former late-night host doesn’t appear to have any interest or at least not now.

In 2022, after an op-ed went viral suggesting he would be “better positioned than nearly anyone else in the Democratic field from the start,” he replied with four words.

“Ummm…No thank you,” he tweeted.

What do you think? Does Jon Stewart have what it takes to be our next president?
