Just one year after losing his wife, Alicia Allain, John Schneider has officially tied the knot again.
The Dukes of Hazzard star, known for his role as Bo Duke on the hit series from 1975 to 1985, has walked down the aisle three times. His previous journey into marriage was with his long-time partner, Alicia Allain.
Their relationship, however, initially faced a legal hurdle due to John’s ongoing divorce from his second wife, Elvira “Elly” Schneider. Despite this, they exchanged vows on September 25, 2019, in a heartfelt ceremony held at John Schneider Studios in Holden, Louisiana.
Just over three years later, however, Alicia lost her battle with breast cancer.
At the time, Schneider was naturally devastated. Six months after her passing, he made his first public appearance, revealing in a tearful July 2023 interview with the Daily Mail that her death would inspire “remarkable, great things.”
Tearfully, he expressed his commitment to helping others coping with loss while acknowledging that he would never fully recover from her death.
Now, Schneider and his new love said “I do” during a surprise wedding in Las Vegas, the Los Angeles Times reported.
“Just when we thought our happiest days were forever behind us …. WE HAPPENED,” the new couple expressed in a heartfelt statement through their representative.
So, who’s the lucky lady? Well, it’s none other than TV and radio Dee Dee Sorvino, the widow of actor Paul Sorvino, who passed away in 2022 aged 83.
Schneider and Sorvino plan to host an official wedding celebration next week to commemorate the anniversary of their first meeting. Their representative shared with Fox News: “They are giddy like teenagers.”
The unexpected nuptials took place at Vegas Weddings, in the back of a white convertible that previously belonged to music star Usher.
Both Schneider and Sorvino experienced the loss of their spouses within the last two years. Schneider recently disclosed his relationship with Sorvino during an appearance on “Grace Begins, The Podcast.”
“God sent a widower to a widow and a widow to a widower who [gets] it, who understands. Because I tell you what, I was ready to give it up, all of it — everything,” Schneider revealed. “Then just when I thought the very notion of dating or holding another hand was repulsive, I met this one, that crazy dame over there.”
Dee Dee reminisced about how Fox News played a crucial role in her relationship with Sorvino, as they first met in the green room while waiting for separate appearances on the network. They even announced their surprise elopement on Neil Cavuto’s show back in 2015.
“If not for Fox, we would not be married. And Neil Cavuto, we called him Dr. Love,” Dee Dee said. “We would always joke about this because Paul knew he wanted to marry me right away.”
She fondly remembered Paul as a “big, tough monster” on screen, but deep down, he was truly a “very sweet, very respectful” gentleman.
“Paul was just a universally loved actor, and of course, I adored him every minute,” she shared. “I got so lucky that he pursued me like he did. And I’m like, wow, I really have had a wonderful life with this man. The only problem is, it was just too short.”
What do you think about this? We are wishing the best of luck to the newlyweds!
