Kim Kardashian has been under fire for her parenting skills and style after a picture of her 12-year-old daughter went viral because of a drastic change in the latter’s appearance.

Kim Kardashian has four children with her ex-husband, Kanye West. The couple was married from 2014 to 2022 and welcomed their first child, daughter North West, in 2013.
Now, Kardashian is opening up about how she has to “manage certain things from the outside world”.
She sat down with her sister, Khloe Kardashian, for her podcast, Khloe in Wonderland. When she was asked about her oldest child, she replied, “no one knows unless they’re in my shoes of what I’m dealing with.”
North West has been active on social media and posting videos and pictures of her ‘shark teeth,’ her blue hair and several body modifications such as piercings she has had to her body and face. These include pictures of dermal piercing on her middle finger that caught a lot of attention online.
Kim Kardashian has faced a lot of backlash about the piercings and the health risk they posed to her 12-year-old daughter. However, the piercings were later said to be fake.
North, on her part, seems to be well aware of the public’s perception about her and has even released a song called ‘Piercing on My Hand (Ye Version)’ with the lyrics, “All my friends are hits, you know I’m not lazy/You’re so angry that I’m so mainstream. I’m not sure I’m crazy/I want more piercings and tats/I love blue hair put it in some plaits/Put the music to the max/I want like a hundred thousand racks.”
Kim shared how people believe she tries to be her daughter’s friend instead of her mother and hence allows her to get away with everything. She said, people think ” ‘oh, she’s trying to be her bestie’ and lets her get away with a lot.”
“Like, no. Northy actually has a lot of rules. The one area is I do let her express herself, and I do let her do that. I love her for that and she would do it, you know, regardless,” the mother of four explained.
“It’s funny like people are like, oh, this blue hair all of a sudden or like her fake piercings that she puts up. I have pictures of her when we’re in first grade, pre-k, where she’d come with like a fake septum ring and she has her green braids and she has pink braids,” Kardashian recalled.
“But she’s always loved the colored braids in her hair since she was little,” Kim explained.
Kim Kardashian herself is aspiring to be a lawyer and is homeschooling North. She says she makes her daughter do a lot of realistic courses which will prepare her for the real world.
“Like she really is who she is and always has been that girl and so like I nurture her,” she said.
“She is homeschooled and a lot of it is me helping her do a lot of the teachings and the things that we do but we do a lot of realistic courses. Things that she’s really into – math, we’ll give budgets and we’ll go around and we’ll add it all up and subtract it all and she has a brand building class, you know, it’s like an actual course and a curriculum.”
