Meghan Markle’s pics of kid’s birthdays at Disney spark suspicion online

Meghan Markle’s glossy Disneyland family photos were supposed to look magical – instead, they triggered instant backlash online, with critics accusing the “creepy” duchess of sharing staged images that were possibly recycled.

On May 12, two days after Mother’s Day, the Duchess of Sussex shared a series of what seemed to be carefully staged snapshots from a Disneyland trip with Prince Harry, Prince Archie, Princess Lilibet, and Markle’s mother, Doria Ragland.

“They were celebrating the kids’ birthdays together,” a source told People. “The kids did lots of rides, and it was a special way to extend Mother’s Day for Meghan and her mom.”

Archie turned 7 on May 6, and Lilibet will be 5 on June 4. Images from inside the park included Markle kissing her 69-year-old mom on the cheek, Lilibet greeting Disney princesses and snapshots of the family enjoying attractions together.

The post was simple, carrying only a red heart emoji as the caption, but online reactions quickly became anything but simple.

‘Ancient pics’

Instead of focusing on the family celebration, many commenters immediately started comparing the images to photos from a previous Disneyland trip Markle shared last year during Lilibet’s birthday celebrations.

Some critics claimed the similarities were too noticeable to ignore, especially after spotting what they believed was the same outfit Markle wore during the 2025 visit.

“She wore the same outfit she wore the first time,” one commenter wrote.

Another added: “Ancient pics…”

Others questioned why the photos appeared online now: “Why is she posting this today? Isn’t this trip from last year?” one netizen asked.

‘Mother’s Day damage control’

The discussion quickly expanded beyond clothing comparisons. Some online users speculated the photos may also have served another purpose entirely after the Duchess of Sussex did not publicly share a Mother’s Day tribute to her mom on the weekend.

“People have been commenting about no Doria for weeks, and ta da, there she is,” one critic commented about Markle’s recent lack of social media love for her mother.

Another labeled the upload “Mother’s Day Damage Control.”

Mickey Mouse bows to family

Others went even further, accusing Markle of being “performative” after one clip showed her dramatic reaction to the legendary Mickey Mouse bowing to Doria during the family’s visit.

“Is Meghan capable of having a single normal…not overly exaggerated to an extreme human reaction to literally anything?” one netizen asked on Reddit.

“She’s an actress, although not a good one,” replies a second Redditor. “Her reactions are always over the top. Meghan is always ‘on stage.’ It’s creepy.”

“Now they’re going to [Disneyland] so they can have a fake fictional character bow to them?” another joked.

‘Parade around a crowded amusement park’

Questions about privacy also surfaced almost immediately, with several people pointing out that, despite Disneyland being one of the busiest tourist destinations in the world, no candid visitor photos of Prince Harry and the children appeared online.

“I’m confused – they were at Disneyland and no one took a sneaky pic? Rightio!!” one person wrote.

A second questioned: “They’re worried about protection taking the kids to the UK, but they parade around a crowded amusement park. How do they go around an amusement park, and no one ever gets a picture of their face? It makes no sense.”

“Funny how no one in the park can get front on photographs of the children,” another added.

Despite the online speculation, there is no evidence suggesting the images were recycled or manipulated.

According to Disney Parks, it reserves the right to intervene if guests are seen harassing, following, or aggressively photographing other visitors, particularly high-profile public figures traveling with children.
