Jerry and Kramer are back together!
Michael Richards, who played Cosmo Kramer on the hit sitcom Seinfeld, made his first red carpet appearance in nine years Tuesday.
Richards, 74, reunited with his longtime friend and former costar Jerry Seinfeld, 70, for the directorial debut of Seinfeld’s feature film Unfrosted.
The last time Richards was spotted at a red carpet event was in March 2015 when he reunited with his fellow Seinfeld costars Jason Alexander and Seinfeld for the inaugural Los Angeles Fatherhood Initiative Lunch for Baby Buggy.
The two hugged and posed for pictures with each other on the red carpet.
Despite his popularity on Seinfeld, Richards has stayed out of the public eye since having a meltdown at the Laugh Factory in 2006. In the middle of his set, Richards responded to some hecklers with a racist rant full of slurs.
The rant was captured on video, and though Richards voiced a minor character in the 2007 Bee Movie, his career never recovered.
Richards’ forthcoming memoir, Entrances and Exits, promises to address the “shameful” incident and explain how it later “drove him to a lifelong spiritual quest, one that would help him move forward from apology and accountability to a greater appreciation for our shared humanity, a quest that continues to this day almost eighteen years later.”
