Recently, the actress made a huge announcement: she just got married for the first time… to one of her acting co-stars.
Watts has been involved with actor Billy Crudup since 2017. Crudup is known for his Emmy-winning performance on The Morning Show as well as films like Almost Famous and Big Fish.
The celeb couple started dating while filming the Netflix series Gypsy.
After their years-long relationship, rumors swirled that the two had tied the knot after paparazzi caught the two dressed up outside their New York City apartment — and wearing matching rings.
Naomi Watts is known for keeping her private life out of the public eye, including her relationship with Crudup, so it’s no surprise they tried to keep things low-key.
But Watts confirmed the exciting news on social media, sharing an Instagram pic of the newlyweds outside the courthouse with the caption “Hitched!”
Many celebrities shared their congratulations on Watt’s post, including Jennifer Coolidge, Andy Cohen, Nicole Kidman, Katie Holmes, Reese Witherspoon and even Watts’ former partner Liev Schreiber, who commented that Watts looked “gorgeous.”
Though both actors have been part of serious relationships in the past, this marks the first time either of them has gotten married.
Watts was in a relationship with Ray Donovan star Liev Schreiber from 2005 to 2016. They have two kids together.
Crudup was in a relationship with Mary-Louise Parker from 1996 to 2003. Their relationship ended in tabloid scandal after the actor left Parker, who was seven months pregnant, to date actress Claire Danes.
Crudup and Danes separated in 2006.
