Nicolas Coster, the British-American actor, known for his work on Santa Barbara, All My Children, and All the President’s Men, has died. He was 89.
Dinneen Coster, the actor’s daughter, confirmed Coster’s death Monday evening via social media.
“It’s with great sadness that I am posting this to my father’s book page,” she on Facebook. “Nicolas Coster passed on this evening in a hospital in Florida. Please remember him as a great artist. He was an actor’s actor! I will always be inspired by him and know how lucky I am to have such a great father!! Rest In Peace.”
Although born in London, England in 1933, Coster was raised primarily in California. He returned to England to study at the Royal Academy of the Dramatic Art before studying acting with Lee Strasberg in New York.
During the 1960s and ’70s, Coster landed multiple television roles. He also starred in several feature films including All the President’s Men and 1776.
He mostly held guest roles on the television series, though he would later go on to have an illustrious career in daytime television.
Coster appeared on The Blue Knight, Charlie’s Angels, Little House on the Prairie, Baretta, The Rockford Files, One Day at a Time, Wonder Woman, The Incredible Hulk, and Dallas.
The British-born actor had recurring roles on All My Children, As the World Turns, One Life to Live, and Another World, but his longest role was on Santa Barbara, where he played Lionel Lockridge.
A cause of death has not been revealed.
