Pamela Anderson reveals the emotional reason why she went makeup-free: ‘It’s just better for me’

In recent years, Hollywood has begun to embrace a more natural look. While cosmetic procedures to appear younger still reign supreme, a growing number of celebrities are saying no to the knife and some, are even forgoing makeup.

Pamela Anderson is no stranger to the pressure of society when it comes to looking your best. However, in recent years she decided enough was enough. She no longer wanted to hide behind a face full of makeup or cosmetic procedures.

“I can’t wait to see myself old. I always said that I would recognize myself when she looked at me in the mirror. I want my hair to be naturally gray, not to wear makeup. I mean, that’s my comfort state,” Pamela said in an interview.

Now the former Playboy Bunny is reflecting on why she began to embrace her natural look.

The former Baywatch actress shared with Elle how in the beginning of her career she didn’t have much say in her appearance.

“I just went along with what people were telling me what to do,” she said.

In her 2023 Netflix documentary, Anderson commented how she never thought of herself as a “great beauty.”

“I just felt like I had something fun.”

Then, in 2019 her makeup artist Alexis Vogel died from breast cancer. The death of her makeup artist changed Anderson’s perspective on beauty.

“She was the best,” she said of Vogel. “And since then, I just felt, without Alexis, it’s just better for me not to wear makeup.”

While Anderson was focused on a more minimalistic look, she noticed others were “doing big makeup looks,” but it didn’t matter to her.

“It’s just like me to go against the grain and do the opposite of what everyone’s doing.”

“I think we all start looking a little funny when we get older,” she said. “And I’m kind of laughing at myself when I look at the mirror. I go, ‘Wow, this is really…what’s happening to me?’ It’s a journey.”
