Whether you like it or not, come fall Ryan Seacrest will be the new host of Wheel of Fortune, and even if you’re not excited the American Idol host can’t wait.
A few months ago, Seacrest set foot on set of the iconic game show for the first time as host, but only now are we getting to see some behind the scenes footage from that very first day.
The 49-year-old shared a clip of his day on Instagram along with a few snapshots on X.
“A glimpse of my first day at @wheeloffortune, and I’m still spinning with excitement!” he wrote on Instagram.
““Listen to the sound of this wheel. Right? Iconic,” Seacrest said as he spun the famous wheel. “I find it soothing.”
The video follows Seacrest as he leaves the set and walks the halls, admiring vintage footage from the show, a Guinness World Record placard, Emmy statues, and a cardboard cutout of Pat Sajak and Vanna White.
Seacrest was announced as the next host of Wheel of Fortune in June 2023 shortly after longtime host Pat Sajak he would be retiring after 41 seasons.
“I’m truly humbled to be stepping into the footsteps of the legendary Pat Sajak,” Seacrest shared at the time. “I can say, along with the rest of America, that it’s been a privilege and pure joy to watch Pat and Vanna on our television screens for an unprecedented 40 years, making us smile every night and feel right at home with them.”
Following Sajak’s final episode, Seacrest reiterated his excitement about his new position and thanked Sajak for “countless wonderful memories.”
“Pat, congratulations on an incredible run with Wheel of Fortune! Your dedication, charm, and wit have made the show a beloved part of American television for decades,” he wrote on Instagram. “Your partnership with Vanna has been nothing short of iconic, and together, you’ve created countless wonderful memories for viewers. You’ve set the standard for hosts everywhere, and this marks the end of an era. Best wishes for all your future endeavors!”
