Salma Hayek is considered one of the most beautiful women on the planet, but just because she holds that title doesn’t mean she is up for grabs.
In 2017, the Latina actress detailed her awkward interaction with a now former president who used her boyfriend to ask her on a date.
“He’s inviting me out, and I’m like, ‘What about my boyfriend? Am I crazy? Are you asking me out? You know I have a boyfriend,’” she recalled.
Several years prior to her 2017 appearance on The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, Hayek claimed Donald Trump attempted to ask her out.
At the time the details were limited, but during her appearance on the late-night show, she explained what happened.
Hayek and her then-boyfriend were at an event when Trump approached and put his jacket over her shoulders because she was cold.
“I turn around and my boyfriend — so charming, so nice — he said hello [to Trump],” she recalled. “[Trump] said, ‘I’m sorry, your girlfriend, I saw she was cold.’ And then he kept talking to my boyfriend.”
Before the night was over Trump had befriended Hayek’s boyfriend and invited the couple to stay at his hotel in Atlantic City. He also left with both of their phone numbers, but only ever contacted Hayek.
Even though she repeatedly told Trump she had a boyfriend, he continued to pursue her, telling her, “He’s not good enough for you. Not important. He’s not important, he’s not big enough for you. You have to go out with me.”
Although Noah joked “Trump was right,” – Hayek broke up with that boyfriend and married François-Henri Pinault in 2009 – she shut the future president down.
In the wake of Hayek’s denial, Trump reportedly planted a story about the actress in the National Enquirer.
The story claimed the two didn’t go on a date because Trump thought Hayek was “too short.”
After the story was printed, Trump allegedly contacted Hayek once more to express his disbelief with the media.
“Later, he called and left me a message. ‘Can you believe this? Who would say this? I don’t want people to think this about you.’” He thought that I would try to go out with him so people wouldn’t think that’s why he wouldn’t go out with me.”

Wow. While it’s good Salma Hayek stood her ground, it’s horrible that Donald Trump continued to pursue her even when he knew she had a boyfriend.
The sad thing is, this doesn’t just happen amongst celebrities. It’s a problem with society.
