Who loves to fire people? Essentially no one, unless your name is Barbara Corcoran.
Recently the businesswoman of Shark Tank has come under fire for stating she enjoys an often necessary thing in the world of business that many despise: firing employees.
“I love firing people on Friday,” she said on an episode of “The Diary of a CEO” podcast. The episode first aired in December, but is making the rounds on the internet once again.

Corcoran explained how she fired her employees.
“I would stop by someone’s desk on a Wednesday and say, ‘Hey, would you have any time, sometime on Friday?’ — They should have heard about the rumors … I couldn’t wait till they came in to fire them!” she said enthusiastically.
So who was she excited to fire?
The investor said she would “picked out individuals who were negative.” Her idea was that the people who were negative all the time were “ruining” her “good kids.”
“I’m not talking about people who tell you what you’re doing wrong,” she attempted to clarify. “They’re invaluable so that you can get better. I’m talking about chronic complainers and negative people. You got to get rid of them.”
Even though stated she fired employees because of their negative attitude, she shared on the podcast that she rarely if ever told the employee why they were being let go.
Instead she would say, “I don’t know, you just don’t fit the company.”
After a clip from the original interview was reshared, many took to the comments to leave their opinion about the Shark Tank investor’s business practices.
“One should NEVER be giddy about firing people,” one person wrote. “I’ve been a business leader for 15+ years. This is the one thing I hate.”
“I never enjoy firing anybody but toxic employees ruin a company and opportunities for the good ones,” someone else wrote.
