This young boy was raised in alcoholic’s home, grew up to be legendary singer

This renowned country star, now enjoying immense success, had a challenging childhood marked by frequent moves and the presence of alcoholism in his family.

Despite his well-behaved nature as a young boy, this talented musician endured significant emotional upheaval during his formative years.

In a candid interview about his life and career, the artist explained how his parents’ constant moving had profoundly affected him, depriving him of a sense of stability and intimacy within his family.

Reflecting on his upbringing, he told Rolling Stone that he would have loved to have more intimacy and affection from his parents, saying: “My dad was an alcoholic, and I grew up in an alcoholic’s house. No intimacy.”

During the same interview, he spoke of his father’s physical discipline and the absence of verbal expressions of love or pride. “I don’t recall him ever telling me he loved me as a kid. I’d do a gig I thought was fantastic, and the only thing he’d say is, ‘When you speak onstage, you’ve got to slow down.’ He never commented on anything else,” the singer said.

Who is this singer?

The country icon revealing his childhood trauma is none other than Keith Urban, 56, who, beyond his musical prowess, is known as the devoted husband of Hollywood star Nicole Kidman, also 56. The couple met in 2005 at an event celebrating Australians in America and embarked on a journey that led them to settle on a farm in their early marriage years.

Determined to break the cycle of his past, Urban is a loving and attentive father to their two daughters, Sunday and Faith Kidman-Urban, and he has been taking every opportunity to nurture and guide them in a stable environment.

While Urban acknowledges the hardships his parents faced, including a significant move to Australia from New Zealand when he was just two years old, he previously told ABC News that he admires their resilience and determination in starting afresh in a foreign land.

“They were keeping it together really well, considering… starting a completely brand new life in a foreign country, which Australia was to them… They didn’t have any money… I’m just really impressed at what they were able to accomplish, the two of them,” he said.

Now, as Urban looks back on his journey from a tumultuous childhood to a fulfilling life with his loving wife and cherished daughters, it’s clear that he’s grateful for the love and stability he has found.
