Millie Bobby Brown and Jake Bongiovi adopt second child

Becoming a parent is a life-changing decision at any age, but when Millie Bobby Brown and her husband Jake Bongiovi expanded their family through adoption for the second time, some people online had plenty to say about their age.

The Stranger Things star, Millie Bobby Brown is just 22, while her husband Jake Bongiovi is 24. The couple already had a daughter they adopted in 2025 and now they have welcomed another child, a baby boy, through adoption.

Brown and Bongiovi confirmed the news on September 17 by sharing a sweet photo of their family holding their new baby’s hand.

“Hi little guy!” Brown wrote alongside the picture.

The announcement came after Brown appeared to quietly hint that something had changed in their family earlier this month.

Brown Seemed To Hint At The New Addition During A Family Trip

On September 7, Brown shared a video from a family vacation in the Dolomites in Italy.

In the footage, the actress could be seen carrying her daughter while Bongiovi walked beside her with a baby carrier strapped to his chest.

The couple kept the newest member of their family hidden from view, seemingly maintaining the privacy they have chosen for their children.

Days later, the news broke that the couple had welcomed their second child through adoption. Brown and Bongiovi have since shared the first glimpse of their baby boy, although they have not publicly revealed his name.

Their First Child Was Also Adopted

The couple became parents for the first time in August 2025, when they announced that they had adopted a baby girl.

At the time, they asked for privacy as they began their new chapter as a family.

“This summer we welcomed our sweet baby girl through adoption,” they wrote.

“We are beyond excited to embark on this beautiful next chapter of parenthood in both peace and privacy.”

The couple chose not to reveal their daughter’s name or publicly show her face, and they have continued to keep much of their family life away from the spotlight.

Brown later explained that protecting her daughter’s privacy was extremely important to her because she wanted the child to have the opportunity to decide for herself whether she wanted a public life one day.

For Brown, Adoption Was Always Part Of The Plan

The actress has made it clear that adoption wasn’t a spontaneous decision she made after getting married. In fact, she says she had dreamed about adopting since she was a little girl.

During a June 2026 appearance on Not Gonna Lie with Kylie Kelce, Brown recalled playing with baby dolls as a child. She said all of her dolls were adopted, and she never pretended she was pregnant.

“It was always part of my childhood dreams,” Brown said. She also described her philosophy simply, “Adoption is love, adoption is forever.”

She Still Hopes To Carry A Child One Day

Brown has also been clear that adopting doesn’t mean she has ruled out having biological children.

During the same conversation with Kylie Kelce, she said she hopes to carry a child herself someday. “Hopefully one day that’s in my future,” she said, explaining that it wasn’t because she didn’t want to have a biological child.

So, for Brown, the two ideas aren’t mutually exclusive. She can dream about carrying a child herself while also believing that adoption is an equally meaningful way to become a parent.

Brown Has Always Wanted A Big Family

The actress previously spoke about her desire to become a mother at a young age.

In 2025, Brown explained that her own parents became parents when they were young, her mother at 21 and her father at 19, and that their experience influenced how she imagined her own future.

She also said that both she and Bongiovi (who is the son of rockstar Jon Bon Jovi) grew up in families with four children, making a big family something they could easily envision for themselves.

“I’m one of four. Jake’s one of four,” she said, explaining that having a large family was “definitely” in their future.

And it appears they’re already well on their way.

Fans Had Strong Reactions To Their Decision

Not everyone online reacted warmly to the news.

One person wrote, “Adopting several children as a healthy young couple is the weirdest thing ever.”

Others criticized Brown and her choice of adopting instead of having a child herself. They wrote, “she can easily give birth to multiple kids but she’s too self centered to do that” while another added, “She’s probably terrified of pregnancy and childbirth.”

However, there were some who pushed back against all the criticism. One person wrote, “I don’t understand why people are mad. She gave a home to a child who needed one, and she has both the resources and the love to raise them.” While another added, “I absolutely love that they’re adopting. Adoption is such a wonderful thing. These kids will have a loving mother and father and a home to grow up in. God bless them both.”

Motherhood Has Already Changed Brown’s Perspective

Despite the criticism, Brown has spoken warmly about what becoming a mother has done for her.

After welcoming her daughter, she described motherhood as a “beautiful, amazing journey” and said it had taught her to appreciate the smaller things in life.

She also praised Bongiovi as a father, saying the two share parenting responsibilities equally.

“We are 50-50 on everything,” she said, adding that she was grateful to have him as her partner in life. Now, the couple’s family has grown from three to four.

And while strangers online may have plenty of opinions about how young they are, Brown has repeatedly made one thing clear: becoming a mother was never an accidental detour from the life she imagined.

It was something she says she had dreamed about since childhood.

And now, she’s living that dream with two adopted children by her side.
