Whoopi Goldberg wants to replace Pat Sajak as host of ‘Wheel of Fortune’: ‘I want that job!’

Now that Pat Sajak has announced he will be retiring from Wheel of Fortune, many are speculating who will be the next host. Some are even throwing their own names into the ring of possibilities.

Just one day after Sajak revealed he would be leaving the post he held for 40 years, Whoopi Goldberg said she’d like to take over the job.

The comment came up during a conversation with Jeopardy‘s Ken Jennings.

“Another legendary game show host, Pat Sajak, just announced that he’s going to be retiring from Wheel of Fortune at the end of next season. What’s your reaction to the news, and any ideas on who should replace him?” the View cohost Alyssa Farah Griffin asked their guest.

“I want that job!” Goldberg, 67, quickly chimed in.

“I want the job. I think it’d be lots of fun.”

Joy Behar suggested their fellow cohost Sara Haines “could be Vanna White,” while Goldberg replaced Sajak.

On Monday, Sajak announced the 41st season of Wheel of Fortune would be his final spin.

“It’s been a wonderful ride, and I’ll have more to say in the coming months. Many thanks to you all,” he said in part.

In a September 2022 interview with Entertainment Tonight, he hinted that the end was near, but did not give a specific end date.

“We’re not gonna do this for another 40 years. The end is near.”

As for who will host the gameshow alongside Vanna White, it’s anyone’s guess. Although Sajak’s daughter Maggie Sajak is a possibility as is Ryan Seacrest, and of course Vanna White could take over.

So far no one has a public comment except one person, Whoopi Goldberg, and it sounds like she’s ready to take over the gameshow any day now.
