‘Wheel of Fortune’ viewers left furious after host Pat Sajak ‘robs’ contestant

Pat Sajak has found himself in apparent hot water again for what fans are insisting was the robbery of a contestant on a recent episode of Wheel of Fortune.

You may remember that only last month did Sajak find himself the subject of internet ire after people claimed a contestant was “robbed” of $100,000.

On that occasion – the April 6 episode – contestant Alexa Hoekstra of Texas Woman’s University made it to the bonus round. The category was “What Are You Doing?” and her choice of letters left her with “__ST _IN_ING IT” on the board.

Alexa missed out on the $100,000 prize by failing to give the correct answer, “JUST WINGING IT” — but some Wheel fans insist that she did in fact give the correct response.

A similar incident appeared to play out on another recent episode that has led fans to openly criticize Sajak for how he handled a contestant’s attempt at working out a puzzle during the show’s “Toss Up” segment.

The game sees guests attempt to guess the right phrase from the assembled letters, and contestant Neetu Varshney seemed to have missed out on the correct answer by a cruelly close margin.

Indeed, she was so near to getting it right that fans believed host Pat Sajak did her a disservice by not giving her the benefit of the doubt.

Varshney’s guess was that the phrase they were looking for was “In a moment’s notice”. Sajak, though, denied her.

The answer the show wanted was instead “At a moment’s notice”, but there are fans who believe that’s what Varshney said. Making matters worse for Varshney, her follow contestant Jeremy Manos went on to correctly solve the puzzle, netting himself $2,000 in the process.

While Sajak was simply going by the letter of the law, it seems as though there were a lot of viewers that felt as though Varshney had been hard done by.

“@WheelofFortune @patsajak NEETU got robbed on that puzzle solve,” one Twitter user said.

Neetu deserved that puzzle win @WheelofFortune#wheeloffortune she definitely said “At a moment’s notice.” another added.

A third said: “Neetu got screwed!! Clean your ears, Pat!! #WheelOfFortune @WheelofFortune.”

A fourth chimed: “I’m a huge fan of @WheelofFortune and @patsajak but last night’s episode was a total failure. Contestant Neetu was called wrong incorrectly on two guesses and I’m sure it was due to her accent. Just waiting to see her invite back.
