Man steals donation jar set up for 6-year-old boy who recently lost his father

A heartbreaking scene unfolded Friday afternoon at Chili Shack in Lakewood, Colorado.

A customer approached the counter and along with his food, he took a jar full of cash. That jar was meant to be for a 6-year-old boy who had recently lost his father.

“You didn’t take from us, you didn’t take from this restaurant, you took from a child that probably needed the money more,” Leonardo Pina said.

FOX 31 obtained surveillance footage of the suspect, who was described as a man in his 50s, walking away with the jar that contained between $200 and $300.

“He literally turned around and grabbed the bucket and walked away with it. It was a total shock he would just steal that. On the side of the thing, it said for a person that passed away.”

The donations were being collected for a 6-year-old boy, who had recently lost his father. Customers placed various amounts of money inside the jar with the intention of it going to help a young boy.

Pina is hoping that someone is able to identify the person who stole the money before they strike again.

“It’s not about the money, it’s the point of what he did, and took from a kid.”

Can you believe someone would be so rude and steal a jar that’s collecting money to help a young boy after he just lost his father?
