Pre-k student helps police find man with Alzheimer’s who had been missing in the rain for hours

A pre-school student is receiving praise from his community after a tip he gave police officers led them to a man with Alzheimer’s who had been missing for several hours.

‘Thank you Ezekiel!’

Wednesday evening Fayetteville police in Arkansas shared an image of Tony Joab. They stated the 65-year-old, who has Alzheimer’s, had walked away from his home between 7am and noon and had not returned.

Police alerted the public that Joab would appear disoriented.

He did not have a car or vehicle, so police did not have any way to reach him. They only had his photo and a description.

But it turned out that was all they needed.

As police searched the area by ATV, they also went door-to-door asking residents if they had seen Joab. According to officers, one resident gave them a tip that helped them locate Joab.

That person was a pre-k student named Ezekiel! He told officers he saw the man walking in the woods during his recess at school.

The tip helped officers refocus their search, and as rain continued to pour down, they located Joab in the woods and were able to bring him to safety.

Thank you Ezekiel for being observant and speaking up about what you saw! We need more people like you.
