Two moms united by organ donation stun ‘America’s Got Talent’ judges with ‘magical’ Wicked performance

Perhaps the “most magical moment” ever in the history of America’s Got Talent occurred during Tuesday night’s episode.

Two women, Holly Campbell, a teacher from Odessa, New York, and Kim Scadlock, a full time mom from Eugene, Oregon, took to the AGT stage to sing their rendition of “For Good” from the Broadway musical Wicked.

While their performance was impressive enough to send them through to the next round, it was the women’s story of how they met that set up the most magical moment.

Prior to their audition they explained to the judges how their duo, Two Moms United By One Heart, came to be.

Holly unexpectedly lost her then 11-week-old son Jake in 2007. She and her husband made the decision to donate his organs.

Jake’s corneas were donated to two unknown recipients, and his heart was donated to a then 16-day-old boy named Beckham.

That boy, who lived in Iowa at the time, belonged to Kim.

“And the last song I sang to Jake to say goodbye to him was ‘For Good,’ from the musical Wicked,'” Holly shared.

“And when Beckham was finished with his heart transplant surgery, I wasn’t allowed to hold him, I could just kind of stroke his head and the first thing I did when I stroked his head, was I sang that song ‘For Good’ from Wicked,” Kim revealed.

However, it wouldn’t be until years later when the two mothers would have the chance to meet.

But when they finally did, Holly described it as “one of the best moments of my life.”

“It’s such a sad story and the fact you shared it with us, I’m a dad, I get it and that story you just told me about the same song, that’s unbelievable,” Simon Cowell said before the two mothers singing brought tears to everyone’s eyes.

“Honestly, I have never responded well to musical theater. They over dramatize singing. So this is the first time in my life that I’ve felt a connection to this type of music,” Howie Mandel told Holly and Kim after their performance. “That is probably the most magical moment I have ever experienced on America’s Got Talent.”
