‘America’s Got Talent’ winner hospitalized and unconscious with mystery health issue

Michael Grimm, who many readers may remember as the winner of America’s Got Talent season 5, has been hospitalized and is currently in intensive care after suffering from a mystery illness.

According to ET Online, the 44-year-old’s wife, Lucie Zolverva-Grimm, used her husband’s Instagram account on Tuesday to offer an update as to his condition.

Sadly, Lucy said that Grimm remains sedated in intensive care, having been taken to hospital on Memorial Day. The singer had reportedly complained of not feeling well for a time before his hospitalization; his wife said he had looked “sickly” and his behavior was “fuzzy”.

Lucia explained that she had initially feared that her partner had suffered a stroke, though “that wasn’t the case”. Grimm had exhibited signs of not feeling well of late, she said, including a severe lack of energy. It got to the point where he could barely walk and was so fatigued he struggled to lift his head.

ET Online say that by the time Grimm was transported to hospital, his health was continuing to decline. The AGT winner’s blood pressure had skyrocketed, leading to him being moved to the ICU.

Yesterday, Lucie said her husband had been taken off of a ventilator, but he remains sedated.

“I have some news on Michael,” Lucie said in a video update. “And I wanted to share, but please forgive me, I’m going to be reading from my notes because my brain’s a little bit on overload.

“It’s been an emotional ride, but I want to make sure I get certain points. I know you all love Michael, and while I want to protect his privacy and his request to not disclose anything, we’re kind of in a situation.

“So, for those of you who have been out to see Michael in the last couple of months, you may have noticed that he was struggling with his health a lot. Lacking energy, and not being able to fulfill shows. We ended up taking him to the hospital, to the ER, to the doctors… still couldn’t figure out what was going on with him.

“But, regardless, whatever the issue was, on Memorial Day it kind of took him over. He was looking increasingly sickly, all of a sudden he could barely walk, couldn’t lift his head, couldn’t respond right away to me when I would ask him things. He’d get really fuzzy.

“So, I rushed him to the ER because I thought something was wrong, like he was having a stroke or something. That wasn’t the case, luckily.”

Fighting back the tears, Lucie later said: “Michael has been in ICU all week. For the safety of his health, they had to put him on a ventilator, and sedate him pretty heavily so that he wouldn’t stroke out, so that he wouldn’t flatline.”

On a brighter note, Michael’s wife did confirm that things were starting to look more positive.

“The good news is that the doctors were finally able to remove the ventilator today, and he is breathing on is own.”

According to reports, Grimm’s June concerts in Las Vegas have been canceled, though his wife said they will not cancel his planned August appearances just in case he improves by then.

We’re all praying for Michael Grimm’s health at this difficult time! Sending love and prayers to his family.
