Helping our elders when they’re in need shouldn’t be something that’s out of the ordinary. Neither should it be a tool we use to better tell kind-hearted people from those who are less considerate.
That’s because helping an elderly person in need should be something all of us are ready to do if and when the need arises.
Sadly, that’s simply not the case. It seems like people are too focused on themselves in today’s world – some rarely even notice what’s going on around them.
Fortunately, there remain those willing to show us that there’s hope yet. Orlando-based rappers Joc Joe Stoe, Marty, and Freddy G, certainly are, in any case.
They were on hand to provide assistance to a 100-year-old man when he needed it, and the heartwarming incident was caught on camera by a nearby police officer.
According to reports, a few years ago, Rose Griest, 89 at the time, was on her way back from a doctor’s appointment in Orlando, Florida, but had to make a stop at a gas station so that she and her 100-year-old husband, David, could use the bathroom.
Only, by the time the pair had returned to their vehicle after going to the bathroom, they were both exhausted.
Rose was struggling with her walker, visibly shaking from the effort of simply walking. David was in a similar state.
Police officer Kanesha Carnegie happened to be in the area and had spotted the elderly couple. She was on her way to help them when a group of three men rushed to get their first.
The trio turned out to be three Orlando-based rappers by the names of Joc Koe Stoe, Marty, and Freddy G. They had been buying snacks at the gas station when they sighted Rose and David through the window.
“I kept thinking, ‘She could have been my grandmother,'” Marty said.
Inspired by the scene that was unfolding before her, Officer Carnegie filmed the whole interaction and uploaded the clip to Facebook.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, the video was warmly received – it amassed over 5 million views all told!

Wow! We’re just simply taken back by the kindness of these young men! Thank you for your compassion, Lord knows we need more of that in the world today.
