Iconic singer Adele has been forced to postpone an entire month of her Las Vegas residence after succumbing to an illness that has “taken its toll” on her voice.
The 35-year-old British powerhouse released a statement on social media apologizing for stepping away from her schedule, writing: “Sadly I have to take a beat and pause my Vegas residency.
“I was sick at the end of the last leg and all the way through my break. I hadn’t quite gotten the chance to get back to full health before shows resumed and now I’m sick again, and unfortunately it’s taken a toll on my voice.”
Adele went on to explain that she was under ‘doctor orders’ not to perform until her voice is suitably rested.
She continued: “And so on doctors orders I have no choice but to rest thoroughly. The remaining 5 weekends of this leg are being postponed to a later date. We are already working out the details and you will be sent the information asap. The postponed dates are 1. 2, 8, 9, 15, 16, 22, 23, 29 & 30 March.”
The singer captioned her post: “I love you, I’ll miss you like mad and I’m sorry for the inconvenience x.”
Fans of the Skyfall star will remember how she was also forced to take a break during Christmas 2023 after falling ill during early November.
Adele underwent surgery back in 2011 for Polyps, a condition that affects the vocal chords.
Reportedly, the 35-year-old tried to power on through last weekend despite struggling. When it became apparent that her voice had been compromised, Adele joked with the audience over how she sounded Ursula, the sea witch from Disney’s The Little Mermaid.
“In the middle of last night – I’m sure you can hear it in my talking voice and my singing voice a little bit. Your girl was tired. I didn’t sleep very well,” she told the audience.
“And Ursula from the ocean has come from my chest tonight. I can’t hit my headnotes properly. I didn’t sleep very well and my chest is on fire.”
She finished: “Straight after this show I am going on voice rest. Can you imagine how hard now me not talking for three days is? So I’m going to be in bed coughing my guts up on complete voice rest.”
We hope Adele’s vocal woes are solved by her planned hiatus.
