Body found in search for missing twin boys last seen near pier

A body has been found in the search for the 13-year-old brothers missing after going into the water near a pier in Galveston, Texas, according to reports.

Fox Houston say that Galveston Island Beach Patrol confirmed the discovery of a body at 2 a.m. on Tuesday, March 6. Sadly, they say the body matches the description of one of the missing twins.

The brothers’ family are said to have called 911 on Sunday after the boys disappeared in the water on the west side of the Galveston Pleasure Pier at around 4:30 p.m.

The twins, Josue and Jefferson Perez, 13, were last seen in chest-deep water. Neither of them knew how to swim.

Lt. Austin Kirwin, with Galveston Beach Patrol, said: “Nobody confirms seeing them go underwater.

“So essentially what happened is they were out in the water, the parents briefly lost sight of them, and they looked back up into that area, and they did not see them any longer.”

The twins’ disappearance has sparked a large-scale search involving multiple agencies including the Galveston County Community Emergency Response Team, Beach Patrol, and the U.S. Coast Guard.

Volunteers have also been out combing the area for the boys since Sunday.

Now, though, a body has been found close to 28th Street and Seawall Blvd.

According to reports, the Pleasure Pier is a famous amusement spot in Galveston known for its family friendly atmosphere.

We’re sending love and hope to the family of Josue and Jefferson.
