Bruce Willis’ daughters break silence after heartbreaking update on his health confirms the rumors

Bruce Willis might be fighting the toughest battle of his life at present, but there’s certainly no shortage of love where his family is concerned.

This week the star’s wife, Emma Heming Willis, opened up her heart to the world to raise awareness for World Frontotemporal Dementia Awareness Week, revealing that her husband’s condition had no cure and admitting that “it’s hard to know” if he’s aware that he has dementia.

Willis’s family revealed his diagnosis in early 2023, and since then there have been regular updates given as to his life since retiring from the spotlight last year.

Perhaps the most heartbreaking update of all, however, was Emma Heming Willis’s admission that her famous actor husband might not even be aware that he has frontotemporal dementia.

During an appearance on the Today show, the 45-year-old spoke openly on just how difficult Bruce’s illness had been for the family to process.

When asked if her famous husband was aware that he had frontotemporal dementia, Emma grew emotional, telling the host: “It’s hard to know.”

She went on: “Dementia is hard. It’s hard on the person diagnosed, it’s also hard on the family. That is no different for Bruce, or myself, or our girls. When they say this is a family disease, it really is.

“I think it was the blessing and the curse, to finally understand what was happening, so I can be into the acceptances of what it is.

“It doesn’t make it any less painful but just being in the acceptance, and being in the know of what is happening to Bruce, makes it a little bit easier.”

Following Emma’s appearance, two of Willis’s daughters – whom she shares with ex-wife Demi Moore – took to social media to lend her their support.

Scout and Tallulah wrote on their Instagram stories: “I truly could not be more proud of [Emma Heming Willis] for being willing to step out into the public eye, (even though it’s terrifying!!!) to share our family’s story in service of speaking awareness about FTD.

“Emma you are such a champion for this cause and you inspire me EVERY SINGLE F—ING DAY with your bravery and deep deep loving. Your courage is moving mountains.”

And courageous Emma Heming Willis has certainly been, along with the rest of Bruce’s closest loved ones now working out how best to help him on his journey.

“We’re a very honest and open household,” Heming told the Today show.

“The most important thing was… to say what the disease was. Explain what it is because when you know what the disease is from a medical standpoint, it sort of all makes sense.”

We’re sending prayers to Bruce Willis and his family. If you like reading about Bruce Willis, check out first photo of him as a grandpa – everyone’s saying the same thing.
