Emma Heming Willis, wife of legendary actor Bruce Willis, has begged the paparazzi press to give her husband “space” following his dementia diagnosis.
In a heartbreaking update, Emma challenged the fact that news outlets have been fighting to get shots of 67-year-old Bruce without considering the toll their actions might be taking on him.
Bruce Willis retired from acting last year after battling with aphasia, prompting an outpouring of support and love from fans and friends worldwide. Tragically, however, it appears as though his condition has worsened – his family recently confirmed that he has been diagnosed with dementia.

Indeed, it appears that the Die Hard actor’s health is waning, with most of his time now spent behind closed doors with his loved ones.
Even so, it would appear that various websites and news outlets are still doing their utmost to secure photos of him whenever possible. It’s something Emma Heming Willis is looking to put an end to, having released a statement wherein she implored paparazzi photographers to cease bothering Bruce.
In a video uploaded to Instagram, Emma recalled a recent incident wherein photographers attempted to mob the A-lister as he left his home for a rare catch-up with friends in Santa Monica.
Emma said: “If you are someone who is looking after someone with dementia, you know how difficult and stressful it can be to get someone out into the world and to navigate them safely, even just to get a cup of coffee.
“It’s clear that there’s still a lot of education that needs to be put forth. So this one is going out to the photographers and video people that are trying to get those exclusives of my husband out and about. Just keep your space.”
In the video, she accepted that her husband’s status meant he would always be a target of the press, but aimed to remind them that his deteriorating condition somewhat changes things.
“She said: “”I know this is your job, but maybe just keep your space,” she concluded. “Please don’t be yelling at my husband, asking how he’s doing, whatever.
“The woo-hooing and the yippee-ki-yay’s — just don’t do it.
“Give him the space. Allow for our family or whoever’s with him that day to be able to get him from Point A to Point B safely. That’s my PSA.”
Indeed, I think the fact that Emma has to remind people not to bother Bruce after his diagnosis is a damning indictment. They should back off and respect his boundaries! A celebrity, he may be, but at the end of the day he’s a human first and foremost, just like any of us.
What do you think about this? Do you think the press need to back off and leave Bruce Willis alone? Let us know your thoughts in the comments box.
