It’s been an up and down month for country music star Zach Bryan. The 27-year-old made headlines last week following his arrest after losing his temper with an Oklahoma State Trooper performing a traffic stop on his bodyguard.
Despite his numerous complaints and vague threats regarding the connections he had, the singer ultimately spent a few hours in jail before being released. He swiftly issued an apology to fans and police officers for his misconduct, earning praise from the National Police Association.
Yet there’s now another twist in the tale, after footage of Bryan’s arrest made its way to the internet for all to see…
According to reports, country music star Zach Bryan landed himself in hot water last week after intervening when an Oklahoma Highway Patrol cruiser performed a traffic stop on his bodyguard.
The Something In The Orange hit-maker got out to smoke a cigarette and then refused a direct order to get back into his vehicle.
Bryan was subsequently placed in handcuffs and placed in a cruiser, after which he spiraled into a tirade which began with apologies and led to him threatening the officer in question with his connections to politicians and the county sheriff in Tulsa.
Footage of Bryan’s arrest has now found its way to the public domain, in which Bryan can be heard complaining: “Can you please take these handcuffs off me, sir.”
He went on: “There is no reason for me to be handcuffed actually.”
Then, after the trooper told him to be quiet so he could finish writing a traffic ticket, Bryan said: “This is why people do not like police officers.”
When the trooper asked why Bryan was so “irate,” the singer’s bodyguard, William C. Thiel (the individual receiving the traffic ticket) replied: “He’s just a kid” and explained that he was under a lot of “pressure because of his fame.”

After perhaps realizing the futility of his situation, Bryan appeared to change his tune, admitting: “I was being a smart a–. I shouldn’t have been. These handcuffs are really tight. I’m not even being a p—-.”
Upon realizing that he was going to jail for obstruction of a law enforcement officer, the 27-year-old’s voice began to crack as he pleaded: “G– damn. This is crazy. I apologize.”
“I’m sorry I’m upset, sir. I’m upset,” he added.
Nevertheless, Bryan was booked in an Oklahoma jail. He posed for a mug shot and was able to leave on a $2,500 bond the same day.
Upon his release, the country star issued a heartfelt apology which appeared to strike the right chord with the National Police Association.
“When the report of his arrest and then of course the video came out, he said some really harsh things,” Sgt. Betsy Brantner Smith, spokesperson for the Association, said.
“Then he very quickly came out with that apology that, you know, seemed to us to be… a very sincere, heartfelt apology.”
Smith sumarized: “And this is the thing: people say and do stupid things. But he displayed a lot of contrition and as law enforcement we don’t often see that, especially from celebrities… he had some harsh language and things and as law enforcement, we’re used to hearing that kind of language. And, you know, people get angry at us when they get arrested. But coming out with that apology is something that I can’t, off the top of my head, come up with another celebrity who’s done it that quickly and that sincerely after having a negative experience with law enforcement.”
In a later Twitter post, Bryan explained: “To be clear in the video I posted, I’m not trying to save face or act like the good guy, I was a complete spoiled a–hole to these police officers and I’ll spend the next few weeks trying my best to right my wrongs and take back what I said.”
