Dad and 6-year-old daughter found dead side by side on the way to Grandma’s house

Unfortunately, many of us are painfully aware of just how suddenly tragedy can strike. We simply never know when our lives might change forever, can never say with iron-clad certainty when we wake up in the morning that we will be getting into bed again that night.

One family has been left reeling after suffering an unthinkable tragedy during the holiday season that saw them lose a father and daughter.

As per reports, Jason Murph, 42, and his daughter Michelle, 6, were found dead side by side in Calhoun Country, South Carolina after a presumed car accident.

Jason and Michelle were reported missing shortly before Christmas, leading to authorities conducting a search that eventually came to a sorry end.

The Richland County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that Jason and Michelle’s bodies had been found approximately an hour after the truck they had been traveling in was located. The truck was severely damaged and burned down, while Jason and Michelle were discovered around 50 yards away.

Reports claim that the father and daughter were enroute to Orangeburg to see Jason’s mother – their family lost contact with them at around 8 p.m.

Jason’s wife initially believed they had gotten into a car accident and needed assistance on the road, but when police responded to the scene they found no trace of Jason’s truck on the highway. As such the aforementioned search commenced.

Speaking to the authorities, Jason’s wife said that in her last conversation with her husband, he told her that he had wrecked his truck and slid off the road. He was reportedly disorientated after the crash.

Calhoun County Coroner Donnie Porth stated his line of thinking that Jason had perhaps attempted to free his vehicle from the mud, leading to a grass fire. When said fire was then extinguished, he and his daughter tried to seek help, only to become trapped in the mire.

“I feel like they were walking together, and unfortunately, he being heavier than she is, he sank into the mud, and the more you struggle, the deeper you go,” Coroner Porth said.

Rest in peace, Jason and Michelle. Our thoughts and prayers go out to their family.
