The dad who captured the first video footage of Kate Middleton since her much-speculated about January surgery has hit out at conspiracy theorists who continue to insist that the woman in the film is not the Princess of Wales.
As we reported earlier this week, Nelson Silva, 40, was at the Windsor Farm Shop last Saturday afternoon when he spotted Kate Middleton and Prince William near the bread section. It wasn’t until the woman turned her head that Silva realized he “knew” her.
He ended up standing behind the couple while in the meat section, witnessing them interacting with the staff.
Silva, who claimed he had no idea “Kate was so much in the news”, later went outside to take a short video for his family in Portugal.
“I started to record as they [Kate and William] walked towards the car park. They just looked very happy and relaxed together,” he said. “William was obviously protective of Kate and I quickly stopped recording because I didn’t want to make them uncomfortable.”
After sharing the clip with his family over WhatsApp, family members couldn’t believe what they saw.
Silva explained: “They were like, ‘Oh god, she’s alive! She hasn’t been seen since last year’. I’m not really into gossip and celebrities, I like to go fishing and to my allotment.”
Yet no sooner had the footage of Kate made its way to the internet than did conspiracy theorists come out in force to label the video as fake and staged, suggesting a body-double had been used.
All manner of conjecture has come to the fore in the wake of the Princess of Wales’s “planned abdominal procedure” in January, not the mention the storm of speculation regarding the circumstances of her recovery.
The exact cause of Kate’s hospitalization is likely a secret that will never pass through the curtain brought down whenever the Royal Family wants to keep their private affairs… well, private, but as far as Nelson Silva is concerned, those implying that the woman in his video wasn’t Kate Middleton are way off the mark.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper, Silva said: “I’m not so much shocked that these comments have continued, I’m just confused how exactly they can continue.
“This is a video clearly showing her and William. I saw them with my own eyes. It was a completely relaxed situation.
“What more do you need to lay off her? I thought after this was released they’d go quiet. But these people are so invested in the drama now.
“They’ve put so much time and energy into these rumours and lies that they can’t pull the plug.
“Even famous people are guilty. People with a large platform online — they can’t admit they are wrong now because they look so delusional.”
One TikToker, reportedly based in the US, got over 2.9 million views on a video claiming that the woman in Silva’s clip was in fact a body-double.
Once again, Silva had a firm message for any and all conspiracy theorists, explaining: “People across The Pond are invested and they must never have laid eyes on Kate in real life.
“But all these people in the UK too, they say it’s not her, that is it a fake person.
“Well I can tell you it is not. Are they now going to question if I’m a real person as well?
“Are they going to say I made this video? Did I put a fake Kate there? It is ridiculous.
“At what point will they back off and realise they have been caught up in something that is crazy?”
