Devastated parents pay tribute to 7-year-old girl stabbed to death in front of them at the park

The family of a seven-year-old girl stabbed to death by a stranger on Mother’s Day in England have paid tribute to their “beautiful” daughter.

According to the Daily Mirror, little Emily Jones had enjoyed a day out with her parents when she was the subject of a random and brutal attack from a 30-year-old woman.

The attacker was chased down and restrained by a member of the public until police arrived. She was arrested and detained under the Mental Health Act, but it was sadly too late to save Emily.

Emily’s parents, who witnessed the fatal stabbing, have now released a photograph of their daughter along with a heartbreaking statement.

The statement reads:

“Emily was our only child and the light of our lives. She was always full of joy, love and laughter.

“Emily had such a cheeky smile and was beautiful inside and out. She had a heart as big as her smile.

“Emily was never happier than when spending time with her family and friends, our own little social butterfly.

“We are beyond devastated that this random act of violence means that we will never get to see our beautiful little girl grow up into the wonderful young lady she was showing such promise of becoming.

“We thank the members of the public that assisted us in the park and express our gratitude to the emergency services for doing their upmost to save Emily’s life.”

The callous and unprovoked attack took place in Queens Park, Bolton, England, on Sunday.

Rest in peace, baby girl, we hope you’re in a better place now.

Lord, how do people find it in themselves to act in such violent ways? My heart goes out to Emily’s family, who are no doubt going through the worst period of their lives at the moment.
