Garth Brooks distracted by woman waving sign, only to read it and immediately walk off the stage

During the last concert of his 2017 tour, Garth Brooks took the stage in Lafayette, Louisiana. Since it was the final show, the crowd were even more enthusiastic than they might have been already, giving Garth every ounce of their love as he did his thing in the Cajundome arena.

Things seemed to be playing out as usual – or as usual as things can play out at a huge concert – until Garth spotted a particular sign being held aloft in audience.

The country star was instantly drawn to the sign, and the words written upon it, and so moved towards it for a better look at the owner. It turned out to be a small, unassuming, elderly woman …

“ELVIS WAS MY LAST CONCERT,” read the sign, and it turned out the woman holding it, Barbara, was special indeed. She was recently widowed, and had gone to Garth’s concert along with her daughter and granddaughter. Why? To celebrate turning 89.

Barbara is really into her music, and she really did go to see Elvis live over forty years ago.

Little did she know she was about to be given the greatest birthday gift of her life by Garth Brooks himself.

Gareth made his way over to her upon seeing her sign, and then asked her age.

“You’re 89?” he replied. “You look fantastic!”

After a time he began to serenade Barbara with a special rendition of “If Tomorrow Never Comes”. Tears began to flow and Barbara couldn’t have been any happier.

But it wasn’t to end there. Garth had another trick up his sleeve. Watch the video below to see the emotional encounter:

We’re so happy Barbara got the birthday she deserved. Garth Brooks, we take our hats off to you, you wonderful, wonderful man!

If you thought this video was touching, share to wish Barbara a happy 89th birthday, and to thank Garth for his actions.
