An actor who appeared in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny was killed along with his two daughters when a plane he was traveling in crashed into the ocean.
According to reports, Christian Klepser (whose stage name was Christian Oliver) was on holiday with his girls in the Caribbean when the tragedy occurred.
The trio were in a small plane just off of the island of Bequia, a part of St. Vincent, when it nose-dived into the sea, killing all on board.
Klepser appeared in the aforementioned Indiana Jones film, while he also had roles in Speed Racer and the The Good German.
Born and raised in Frankfurt, Germany, Klepser relocated to the US as an adult to find work as a model. After taking acting classes he then moved into the profession full-time.
The Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force say that the 51-year-old and his two daughters, Madita, 10, and Annik, 12, were on board a small plane that began to experience “difficulties” before it “plummeted into the ocean”.
The single-engine plane, owned and operated by Robert Sachs, also killed in the crash, had not long taken off from the J.F. Mitchell Airport in Paget Farm, Bequia shortly after midday on January 4. The flight’s destination was the island of St. Lucia.
Though authorities have not revealed the cause of the fatal crash, it’s believed things began to go awry almost immediately after take-off.
In a statement, police revealed that all four bodies had been recovered from the aircraft by fishermen, divers and Coast Guard personnel.
“The RSVGPF expresses condolences to all who are negatively affected by this tragic incident,” the police department said.
Rest in peace to all those who lost their lives.
