There’s a reason Jeff Bridges is one of the most well-loved, well-respected figures in all of Hollywood.
Not only has he managed to remain relevant in an ever-changing, cut-throat industry, but he’s done so whilst all the while keeping his morals intact.
If you’re a fan of the iconic actor, you’ll know all about his recent battle with cancer – which, thankfully, Bridges came out on top of – but there’s plenty more to his story that you perhaps haven’t ever read about.
In fact, Bridges’ love story reads like something straight out of a Hollywood script … and it all began with an unexpected strings of events that took place while he was shooting for a movie in Paradise Valley, Montana, a long, long time ago …
As per reports, Jeff met his long-time wife, Susan Geston, while she was working as a waitress. He knew right from the off that there was something special about her.
The actor was filming “Rancho Deluxe” (1975) when he first laid eyes on Susan. The movie crew were shooting a scene in Chico Hot Springs, where Geston was waiting tables.
In his later book, “The Dude and the Zen Master“, Bridges revealed that he couldn’t look away. Instead, he did his best to steal glances here and there, until he eventually plucked up the courage after work had ended one day to ask Geston out on a date.

Geston, though, declined his offer. Even when Bridges came back a second time, she still said no.
Yet though Bridges didn’t get the answer he had hoped for, Geston did say: “It’s a small town; maybe we’ll run into each other.”
Sure enough, the pair were fated to meet again. One day, away from work, they stumbled upon one another in a dance hall – Jeff revealed that’s the moment he knew he was in love.
Again, he asked Geston out on a date, and this time she accepted. The only problem was that the arranged date fell on the same day Jeff had an appointment with an estate agent.
He invited Geston along and the pair – despite technically not being together – were all of a sudden property surfing.
Jeff recalled one property they went to see – a ranch lying close by a river – where a small voice whispered inside his head: “You are now looking at a house with your future wife.”
Two years later, Jeff and Susan tied the knot. Today, they’ve been together for over 45 years, and share three adult children.
“We are quite different as people, and we celebrate that rather than making it drive us apart,” Jeff told People.
“I respect her wisdom, and I’m sure the girls do too. I’ve really been blessed.”
Indeed, Susan’s love and strength was immeasurably important in Jeff’s recent battle with cancer.
In 2020, Jeff was diagnosed with lymphoma. He underwent chemotherapy and, thankfully, responded well to the treatment. In 2021, the actor announced he was healthy and in remission.
I don’t know about you, but I’m a huge fan of Jeff Bridges, and I think his love story is inspiring to read.
