The bitter divorce between Kevin Costner and Christine Baumgartner wages on, with the latter now having accused her spouse of being “evasive” about his financial assets.
Baumgartner filed for divorce in a shock move back in late April, citing “irreconcilable differences.”
A representative for Costner released a statement at the time which read: “It is with great sadness that circumstances beyond his control have transpired which have resulted in Mr. Costner having to participate in a dissolution of marriage action.”
“We ask that his, Christine’s and their children’s privacy be respected as they navigate this difficult time.”
There’s been a great deal of speculation since then, with Costner and Baumgartner’s relationship having largely devolved in the public eye.
Now, according to RadarOnline, Baumgartner has filed court documents asking a California judge to hit her husband with a $8,985 fine just weeks ahead of an evidentiary hearing on August 31.
Baumgartner has complained that Costner thus far has only handed over financial records for 4 of his 24 companies, and is refusing to hand over the books for his upcoming four-film series Horizon: An American Saga, as well as the contracts detailing how much he earned for his role in Yellowstone.
In court documents made public by RadarOnline, Baumgartner’s lawyer stated: “There is no telling what other documents in response to this Demand that (Costner) has chosen to withhold because he continues to provide evasive and incomplete information regarding the documents in existence and his basis for refusing to produce them.
“(Costner) has made it evident that he will refuse to produce all contracts related to his current business endeavors and professional services until there is an Order compelling him to do so.”
Baumgartner’s demand is the latest in a back-and-forth battle that has ensued since she first filed for divorce after 18 years of marriage. At the time, reports claimed that Costner was left blindsided by her move, and was initially determined to try and win back her affections.
Baumgartner then refused to leave the couple’s $145 million home within the 30 days predetermined by their prenup, only for a judge to rule last month that she had to vacate the property by July 31. Costner was also ordered to temporarily pay $129k a month in child support, far less than the $232k a month Baumgartner had argued for.
The ongoing argument over the financial records Costner has handed over began back in June. His estranged wife reportedly wanted him to hand over records for the money he’s earned over the past couple of years, but the actor is unwilling to play ball, refusing to hand over contracts for the aforementioned Horizon and the financial records for Yellowstone.
I guess divorces are almost always messy, but it’s said to see Costner and Baumgartner bickering like this.
