Lisa Marie Presley was stressed and concerned about having to make public appearances in the weeks and months leading up to her death, according to new reports.
The only child of the legendary Elvis Presley passed away on January 12 after being rushed to hospital in full cardiac arrest, prompting an outpouring of grief and sorrow around the world.
According to TMZ, Presley’s housekeeper found her unresponsive in the bathroom. Her ex-husband, Danny Keough, performed CPR until paramedics arrived.

Just one day prior to her death, Lisa Marie had attended the Golden Globes, where she watched as Austin Butler took home the Best Actor in a Drama Motion Picture award for his portrayal of Lisa Marie’s father in Elvis.
“I really didn’t know what to do with myself after I saw it,” she recalled of Baz Luhrmann’s biopic of her father’s life.
“I had to take, like, five days to process it because it was so incredible and so spot on and just so authentic that, yeah, I can’t even describe what it meant.”
Indeed, as a result of the film’s success, Lisa Marie knew that she would have to do press again. According to family sources who spoke to TMZ on Sunday, though, she “did not want to be seen by anyone” as she was still grieving the loss of her son, Benjamin Keough, who died by suicide in 2020.
If reports from Page Six are to be believed, Lisa Marie turned to opioids and weight loss medication in a bid to look her best for red carpet events – it’s said she lost between 40 to 50 pounds prior to the 2023 Golden Globes.
She suffered a cardiac arrest just two days after that event, with one insider claiming: “Were it not for the Golden Globes, Lisa might be alive today.”
At the time of writing, the Los Angeles Coroner’s Office has not released her official cause of death.
Naturally, Lisa Marie’s family is still reeling after her sudden passing. On February 1, the singer’s birthday, her mother, Priscilla Presley released a touching statement where she stated her intent to “keep our family together”.
“Today would have been Lisa’s 55th birthday. My wish is to protect my three grandchildren and keep our family together,” Priscilla said, as per Fox.
“From the first moment I held Lisa in my arms, I’ve protected, loved and guided her, as I have my son. Our hearts are broken, and I am having to learn to live without my only daughter. We truly love all of you, and we feel your prayers. Thank you so much for caring so deeply for our family.”
I don’t know about you, but my heart goes out to the family of Lisa Marie Presley. Losing a loved one is never easy, and it certainly doesn’t get easier when occasions like birthdays roll around.
