Little Caesars leave note for homeless man going through trash – it quickly goes viral

More and more global issues are solved with each passing year, but sadly homelessness remains a big problem.

Even in developed, first-world countries such as the United States, there are hundreds of thousands of people left to fend for themselves on the streets for one reason or another.

For such people, there can be no assurances regarding where their next meal might come from. Many are left to take what they can, even if it means rummaging through trash cans and leftovers to fill their hungry bellies.

When employees at one Little Caesars pizza restaurant found that a homeless man had been sifting through their garbage after hours, they knew they had to take action. The note they left posted in their window has since gone viral, and for good reason …

The homeless man in question was no complete stranger to employees at the Little Caesars restaurant. He’d approached their bins on many an occasion when he believed no one to be looking, only to flee in embarrassment every time a staffer approached him with the offer of hot food.

After months of trying – and failing – to help the man, the staffers decided upon a different line of approach.

Instead of attempting to actively confront the stranger to give him food, they posted a note in the window of their restaurant. It read:

“To the person going through our trash for their next meal, you’re a human being and worth more than a meal from the dumpster. Please come in during operating hours for a couple of slices of hot pizza and a cup of water at no charge.

“No questions asked.”

I don’t know about you, but I think it’s a heartwarming gesture of compassion. It might not seem like much, but it gives one unfortunate soul the chance to get a hot meal if he wants it, as opposed to digging out scraps from a bin every day.

The best part is that’s not all Little Caesars does to help the homeless. At the end of each shift, employees gather up the leftovers and deliver them to local shelters – there’s no need to throw perfectly good food away when there are people who go hungry!

Well, that certainly put a smile on my face. I live in hope that one day the rules and regulations regarding unnecessary food waste will change. There’s no reason why people should go hungry mere minutes from an establishment that throws food out every day!

As for the homeless man in this particular story, we pray he gets the support needed to put him back on his feet. SHARE this article if you think Little Caesars deserves praise for its actions!
