Luke Combs plays show despite vocal problem, then refunds the entire crowd – “I’m so sorry”

Country music star Luke Combs is already known for being something of a fan-friendly, heart-of-gold type of guy, but he proved that beyond all doubt this weekend after the culmination of a show on his Middle of Somewhere Tour.

According to reports, the show in question took place on Saturday, September 3, and was the second of two back-to-back shows in Bangor, Maine.

The 32-year-old is said to have noticed that he was struggling to sing leading up to the concert (he was losing his voice) but refused to cancel at short notice and instead took to the stage to play a shortened set.

Not only that, but Luke then went the extra mile and refunded the ticket money of every fan who had attended.

“Luke Combs started the show by addressing the crowd to say he had lost his voice from the night before,” one fan explained.

“He acknowledged all that goes into coming to a show — the tickets, gas money, babysitters and hotels — and stated that because he didn’t feel he could give his best performance that he would be refunding everyone’s tickets.”

Fans might have been disappointed that they didn’t get a full show, but the majority were more than content with what Luke offered instead.

“Best free show I’ve ever seen!” another fan wrote.

Needless to say, though, Luke himself felt he was letting people down by not giving them the exact experience they came for.

“We’re still gonna be the show,” the singer could be heard saying in a video filmed by a concertgoer.

“But it’s not gonna be what I think it should be for you guys having to pay for it. So we’re gonna put on the best free show we can put on, and I want you guys to know how upset I am to tell you that.”

He finished: “I’m gonna give you everything that I have, and I’m so sorry … I’m so sorry.”

Combs also made headlines earlier this week when he paid back a pair of young fans who had bought their own tickets to his show.

As per reports, 12-year-olds Bo Fenderson and his friend Tanner stacked five cords of wood in order to buy for their tickets.

Fenderson was photographed holding a sign that read: “We made $100 bucks stacking 5 cords of wood, bought two Luke Combs tickets. Man, he sounds good. Our Dads swore it was a waste of time, oh but they were wrong. Today’s my 12th birthday, oh Lord when it rains it pours.”

Combs spotted the pair at his show during Friday night and pulled $140 out of his wallet to refund the kids.

Combs said from the stage: “How much were you tickets? $100? $200? Y’all paid $200, a hundred dollars apiece.

“Oh my God, I only got $140 right here. Y’all want that, pay yourselves back. I’ll get you some more.”

Not only that, but the singer also invited the boys to hang out with him backstage after the show. Bo’s mom described him as a “great role model” to the kids.

“He’s a great role model to take the time and do that, and really acknowledge what they did,” Desiree Fenderson said.

“It wasn’t just Luke, it was the rest of the staff too that made it happen and made it a point to come find us and the boys and fulfill that promise that he made to them. I think for all of the sisters, the cousins, and the friends that they all learned a valuable lesson.”

I don’t know about you, but I think Luke Combs is an inspiring entertainer and obviously a great human to boot.
