Madonna health update confirms star is “vomiting uncontrollably” and can’t leave her bed

Madonna may have been deemed well enough to return home from hospital following her health scare this week, but she remains in bad condition.

Fears were sparked yesterday when it was revealed that the Queen of Pop, 64, had been found unresponsive and rushed to a New York City hospital. She was admitted to the intensive care unit with a reported bacterial infection, and would remain there for several days.

Such was the severity of the situation that a relative told how they hadn’t initially gone public with word of her health issue as they feared the worst.

“That is why it was kept a secret since Saturday. Everyone believed that we may lose her, and that has been the reality of the situation.”

The relative added that Madonna “believes that she is invincible” and “has been wearing herself thin over the past couple of months”.

Yesterday, Madonna’s longtime friend Rosie O’Donnell took to Instagram to provide a welcome update that implied the Like A Virgin singer was on her way to recovery. Following news of Madonna’s tour cancellation, comedian O’Donnell shared a photo of herself and Madge doing yoga on the set of the Rosie O’Donnell Show.

She captioned the photo: “shes feeling good #madonna #love.”

Latest reports insist that Madonna has been given the all clear to return to her New York home, but the Daily Mirror say she remains bed-bound and that the infection is still taking its toll.

What’s more, TMZ say that the music icon has been “vomiting uncontrollably” since being released from the ICU.

According to sources, Madonna had been battling low-grade fever for the past month, but was so focused on her upcoming tour that she decided against taking time off to rest and recuperate. As stated, her Celebration Tour has been verbally postponed, but those close to Madonna are said to be worried that she might attempt to push on with it anyway.

Madonna’s last post on Instagram before falling ill showed backstage pictures of her preparing for her upcoming tour. She captioned the post, “The calm before the storm.”

The Celebration Tour was due to kick off in Vancouver on July 15, with the Like A Prayer hitmaker reportedly hard at work getting herself ready. Indeed, one of the major talking points online has been whether the singer was working too hard.

After her admission to the ICU, her manager’s statement read:

“At this time we will need to pause all commitments, which includes the tour.

“We will share more details with you soon as we have them, including a new start date for the tour and for rescheduled shows.

We’re hoping and praying that Madonna can summon the strength to make a full recovery and get back to doing what she loves best.
