Mom saves 10-month-old but loses her 2 other children after running into burning home to rescue them – rest in peace

Investigators are yet to determine how a mobile home fire started in Irvington, Alabama that killed two young children.

According to reports, two boys, a 4-year-old and a 2-year-old, perished in the blaze. Their mother made a desperate attempt to rescue them, but only succeeding in saving her 10-month-old.

Tragically, officials say Liam Barnes, 4, and his brother Noah Gordon, 2, were pronounced dead after being taken to hospital. The blaze that raged at their mobile home broke out at around 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 25, but quickly engulfed the whole abode.

MCSO Sgt. Mark Bailey told how the children’s mother, 24-year-old Kali Sherman, was next door when she was alerted to the fire. She ran home to attempt to save the boys, and managed to rescue her 10-month-old, Sebastian, from his crib, as well as grab Liam.

KWTX say that Kali was treated for burn injuries while the 10-month-old was unharmed.

Neighbor, Shaun Kendall, said he realized Kali’s mobile home was on fire when somebody rang his doorbell.

“We started seeing smoke in the actual Ring itself, and we heard the fire alarm going off. So, we called Courtney, which is the person that’s in front of the trailer that caught on fire,” Kendall said.

“So, they ran outside and found out that it was her house that was actually on fire. Then, we rushed home, and that’s when we found everything on fire and seen everything going crazy.”

Shaun, who works as a professional tattoo artist, is doing his best to help raise funds to help Kali.

“I wanted to at least help the family give back. So, everybody that comes in for a tattoo, I want to give them a chance to help me help them,” he explained.

“So, anything that I get, I’m going to give them 25% of the proceeds off of my cut. That’s not including the shop cut. That’s gonna be out of my pocket.”

Investigators were reportedly at the scene on Friday morning in order to speak to witnesses. The cause of the fire remains unknown, though it’s believed to have started in the front bedroom of the mobile home.

All of our thoughts are with Kali and her loved ones as they process this unimaginable loss.
