The mom, from Fairland, Indiana, wrote a warning for all other moms and dads concerning what might look to the untrained eye like scuff marks on the table. Her post has been shared more than 134,000 times on Facebook, with the masses keen to circulate her advice.
“Before putting your babies anywhere near these things, ALWAYS wipe them down first. Even if you are in a hurry, even if you have a blanket to lay down,” she wrote.
The mom proceeded to point out the ‘black marks’ commonly found on restroom tables, highlighting a sinister alternative use many might not even consider.
“See the black marks?” she said. “Those are from burnt spoons. Addicts use these as tables while they shoot up. There could be residue from heroin/meth whatever, and other harmful bodily fluids. If someone doesn’t care about themselves, I can promise you, they aren’t thinking about your kids. Be cautious.”
Wayman went on to explain that she’s a recovering addict herself, which is why she has the insight and experience to write such a post. With her message having received so much attention, it’s clear that hers is a concern shared by many other parents across the web.
What’s more, Waynman went one further when she spoke to the Daily Mail. She explained that just because you use a blanket when changing your child’s diaper, that doesn’t necessarily mean you have nothing to worry about.
“All it would take is flakes getting stuck to a blanket, and the baby later putting the blanket in their mouth,” she said.
“Especially with all the Fentanyl out there right now, it takes a tiny amount to kill a full grown adult, it would take even less to kill a tiny baby.”
Well, I certainly had no idea about the severity of the danger present in some public bathrooms, and I’m sure I’m not the only one. I for one will be approaching them with a new found sense of caution.
