Mom’s before-and-after Quadruplets photo shows how amazing the female body is

Each time a child is born it is, of course, a miracle. It’s a unique event, not least for the happy parents. However, there are some births that are just a little more unique than others…

New Jersey parents Syman and Lindsay Hay had always known that they wanted to have a big family. They got married and not long ago the loving couple discovered that they would become parents. Four years ago their son, Carson, was born.

But Lindsay and her husband wanted a bigger family and more children.

They tried many times, but unfortunately, Lindsay suffered multiple miscarriages during this period. It was something that affected her very much – Lindsay didn’t think she ever would be able to hold a newborn baby in her arms again.

It didn’t get any better when her doctor explained that Lindsay had ”poor egg quality”.

Of course, it was tough for Lindsay to hear that. It felt like everything was her fault. She loved children and so wanted to get pregnant again.

After a while, she and her husband decided to start a treatment with an injectable hormone called Follistim.

“The theory behind the drugs was that if I produced more than one egg per cycle, I’d catch a good one faster. We had to try this, plus timed intercourse six times, before moving on to IVF,” Lindsay told BuzzFeed.

But IVF never became reality. Lindsay conceived quads on Cycle 3 of the Follistim treatment.

When Lindsay and her husband got the fantastic news, they couldn’t believe their ears. They were completely in shock. It just couldn’t be true… Quadruplets? They are extremely rare: the doctor explained that they only occur once in every 700,000 pregnancies.

“I was in a lot of denial because I was told I had poor egg quality, and I just didn’t believe it. My husband was silent and white as a ghost,” she said.

But although the couple was overjoyed, there was a great sense of concern. Of course, that feeling is present in most people who are going through a pregnancy – but for Lindsay it was extra tough.

“I honestly think the pregnancy would progress, and prepared myself for miscarriage. There was just a lot of uncertainty, fear, and surprise, ”she said.

Although everything looked good on the ultrasound, Linday was still not fully convinced she was going to be able to meet her precious babies.

“You carry the pain of miscarriage with you wherever you go, and even after being on the other side with my rainbow babies here, it still hurts. I don’t think I’ll ever fully heal. It definitely made me stronger, though , and gave me new perspective and appreciation for just how big of a miracle these babies and all babies really are. “

Also, she had a very tough pregnancy.

“I’m grateful that I’m a person who genuinely loves pregnancy. Otherwise, it would have been a lot harder to cope with. During the first trimester, I was so sick I couldn’t function. With four babies and four placentas , my hormones, fatigue, and nausea were quadrupled. I was extremely anxious and would wait until midnight every night to celebrate making it through another day, “she said.

After 20 weeks, doctors delivered some more, worrying news: Lindsay’s cervix had started thinning. Again, Lindsay was terrified of losing her babies.

But everything went well and she lasted for 30 weeks and 4 days. When the doctors explained that it was time, Lindsay could breathe again. She realized that her babies probably would make it. It was decided that the babies would be delivered via Caesarean section, for safety reasons.

The quadruplets needed care right after birth and the quads were in the NICU for about seven weeks. Lindsay breastfed all her babies during this time! After a while, they all went home happy and healthy.  I think some women were born to be super moms!

Lindsay documented her amazing journey on Instagram. Not long ago, she shared pictures from before and after her pregnancy, which drew a lot of attention and applause from her followers. Thousands of people online have followed Lindsay’s pregnancy on Instagram, much because of her amazing and giant stomach.

But it’s not easy to update everyday life on social media having quadruplets and a 4-year-old son…

“I rarely get a minute to myself. I’m constantly in motion and have learned how to move quickly and multitask. I sleep less. I worry more. But I will say this: The expression ‘full hands, fuller hearts’ has never resonated with me more. I am so overjoyed with happiness and fulfillment, and every day I wake up wondering how I got so lucky. I have everything I prayed for and more. We are so blessed.

Hats off to Lindsay for everything, especially breastfeeding four.
