An Australian mother of four has caught the attention of thousands of people after revealing a controversial way she cares for her children.
In an effort to “normalize everyday bodies” and save “time and water,” Bronte Towns showers with her children. While she didn’t specify which of her four children under the age of seven she showered with, her statement was enough to cause an uproar.

In a viral post on Instagram, Towns shares how her family handles bath time, while also making it clear that her way of parenting may not be suitable for everyone.
“We often do family showers,” she writes.
Not only is it more practical, but she uses the time to teach her children “biology.”
“This is a fabulous way to open up discussions on why some ppl might choose to keep body hair, or shave it off, have stripes on their tummy, or where body parts are located without big stigma around it,” she writes.
Towns entertains any questions her children ask.
“We normalize open conversations in the shower, there’s no silly questions, nothing too awkward to ask.”
In addition to keeping on top of her children’s hygiene, the mother-of four states it’s her way of normalizing bodies and showing her children that what they see in the media isn’t always true.
“All bodies change, grow, shrink, get stretch marks, veins, body hair, the list goes on.”
While she mentions the practice is stopped once her children feel uncomfortable or become “too curious,” many still took issue with her family showers.
“I’m so glad I never saw my mom naked ? that would have made for a very awkward disturbing relationship. I would never ever ever want to see either of my parents naked, nor would I want my 2 daughters to see me naked. Please don’t normalize this our society it turning to sh*t,” one user writes.
“Some things are just meant to be private. No one, and I mean NO ONE outside the walls of your home needed to know this. The amount of oversharing is insane & inappropriate,” another commenter shares.
However, there were some people who didn’t see it as too much of an issue.
“Showering with your kids is fine if they’re babies/young toddlers. Otherwise it starts to get weird…”
“Spot on I do this with my three little girls. Trying to break generational trauma around the body. My mom was a massive body shammer,” someone else writes.
What do you think? Is it appropriate to shower with your children?
