Police write to Madeleine McCann’s parents that she is dead – have “concrete” evidence

Madeleine McCann went missing in May 2007, just before her fourth birthday, during a family vacation to Portugal.

For the last 13 years her parents have kept her case in the public eye to ensure all is being done to find her. Images have been released showing what Madeleine might look like now and millions of dollars has been spent on the investigation which has spanned several countries.

Now prosecutors in Germany say they have “concrete evidence” that Madeleine is dead and have, for the first time, described her case as a murder investigation.

According to The Sun newspaper German investigators have written to Madeleine’s parents with the heartbreaking news that their child is dead and they have a suspect in custody.

Christian B, 43, has been identified as a key suspect in the Madeleine McCann case by German police.

The suspect has since been identified as a convicted rapist, drug dealer and child sex offender, currently in jail in Germany, The Sun newspaper reports.

“We have written to the McCanns to tell them Madeleine is dead and explaining we just cannot say what the evidence is. We have concrete evidence that our suspect has killed Madeleine,” prosecutor Hans Christian Wolters said, as per The Sun.

Wolters said Madeleine’s parents had not been informed of all the details but “they know the results”.

In response to the McCann’s family lawyer requesting the police share all the information with Madeleine’s parents Wolters added: “I sympathize with the parents but if we reveal more details to them it might jeopardize the investigation.”

Wolters explained that he understood the McCanns want relief, but that it was better for them if police brought about a “clear and successful conclusion” to the case.

“All I can say is there is no forensic evidence but there is other evidence which indicates she is dead,” he added.

Our thoughts are with the McCann family at this extremely difficult time.

We hope justice is finally served and they can have some peace after years of torment, not knowing what happened to their child. Please share.
