If you’ve been in a relationship for a long time, you know how difficult it is to be away from your partner even for a few days.
So imagine what it’s like being separated from your companion for eight months. Yet this is what happened to Canadian couple Anita and Wolfram Gottschalk, whose heartwarming story I couldn’t help but share with you here.
The couple, who have been married for 62 years, were separated when Wolfram, who suffers from dementia and requires specialized care, was put into a different nursing homes than Anita.
The couple’s family struggled to reunite them, but it took some time.
After eight long months, Anita and Wolfram were finally reunited.
Their granddaughter Ashley was there and caught the tearful moment on camera. Anita was unsure if her husband would recognize her—but there’s no doubt that Wolfram knew exactly who he was meeting.
When Wolfram began to speak, it was clear that both were very moved by the meeting.
“They cry every time they see each other. They’ve been together since they got married in 1954. They’re completely infatuated with each other and have been together in sickness and health,” says granddaughter Ashley.
Now, the couple live in the same housing, but they don’t share a bed or a room. Still, at least being under the same roof means that they’re able to spend mealtimes together.
And given that Wolfram’s dementia will worsen over time, this wonderful couple deserves to spend every moment they can together!
Please share this touching moment on Facebook if Anita and Wolfram’s reunion also warmed your heart.
