Robert Trump, younger brother of President Donald Trump, dies aged 71

Robert Trump, the younger brother of President Donald Trump, has passed away after being hospitalized a few weeks ago.

According to reports, the 71-year-old was visited by his brother in hospital, though it has not been made clear exactly what he was battling. CNN speculate that he had been unwell for months.

In the wake of Robert’s death, the POTUS released a statement describing his brother as his “best friend.”

Trump said: “He was not just my brother, he was my best friend. He will be greatly missed, but we will meet again. His memory will live on in my heart forever. Robert, I love you. Rest in peace.”

As per the BBC, Robert spent the last few years of his life living in Long Island, New York. A former real estate developer and business executive by trade, he is survived by his second wife, Anne Marie Pallan.

Born in 1946, Robert was the youngest of five siblings, and rose to become a top executive at the Trump Organization.

Reports state that Donald Trump is expected to attend Robert’s funeral, but no details have yet been released regarding plans.
