Senior citizen was fed up with speeders — now her clever trick is being hailed by millions

The street where I live is full of children. But nevertheless, some people still zip by in their cars.

You might have this dangerous problem where you live, too. But now, there’s a solution, as many people just learned from a British woman named Jean Brooks.

Her brilliant solution has the whole internet cheering.

Jean Brooks lives in Nottingham, England. When the senior citizen’s son-in-law died, she started collecting money for cancer research by opening a small cafe in her front yard. It made it so people could enjoy a cup of tea while donating money at the same time.

But after she opened the cafe, Jean realized that something wasn’t right on the street in front of her house.

Jean discovered that cars sped up and down her street all day. She didn’t know what she could do about it, though. Until one of her friends told her about a brilliant trick she heard about from France.

“I was listening to the radio and they were talking about these kids who were riding around on bikes. They asked if anyone had got a solution for it and I phoned up and said ‘I’ve sorted it—I use my hairdryer,'” Jean told the Nottingham Post.

Jean heard that someone in France used a hairdryer as a fake speed gun to trick drivers into slowing down.

So when she saw a car barreling down the street, Jean started pointing her hairdryer at speeders—and most drivers actually slowed down!

The BBC recently posted a show video about Jean on Facebook—and in less than five days, it racked up more than 31 million views. Jean’s daughter, who lost her husband and is still grieving, told her mom that it went viral. Something that made her very happy.

“I’ve made my road safer for kids and I’ve made my grieving daughter smile. You can’t put a price on that,” Jean told the Nottingham Post.

Check out Jean’s hair dryer speed trap in the video below. So clever!

This is one of the coolest things I’ve seen in a while. Please share this story so that more people can find out about this trick and hopefully, we can get drivers to slow down.
